The MeT department issued an avalanche warning in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday even as the water level in Dal Lake has risen.
It further said that more rain is expected in the next 24 hours in the state.
The flood situation is being constantly monitored by latest satellite technology at the National Remote Sensing Centre.
Latest satellite technology at the NRSC is also keeping a close watch on the extent of flood damage, by programming its satellites for quick acquisition of data over the Kashmir valley region.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh appealed to people not to panic as the situation is under control and both state and central governments are monitoring the situation closely.
Relief and recue operations teams including National Disaster Response Force and defence forces are in place for quick deployment as, when and where needed.
In an exclusive interview with DD News, Minister of state in the Prime minister’s office Jitendra Singh said the flood situation in Jammu and Kashmir is under control.
He also said the centre and state governments are well prepared to deal with the situation and normalcy in the state is expected to return in a week.
